Baier
March 11, 1928 – January 1, 2021
Norbert E. Baier, age 92, passed away at Maplewood Nursing Home, Sauk City on Jan. 1, 2021. He was born Mar. 11, 1928 to the late Herman and Mary (Pings) Baier. He attended St. Aloysius Catholic School. Norbert later enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in San Diego. Norbert married Delores B. Garske on September 15, 1951 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City; she preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2010. Together they lived in Sauk City raising their 6 boys. Norbert worked for Oscar Mayer for 42 years, retiring in 1989. He often enjoyed short naps on the couch after work, watching sports and cheering on the Badgers, and looked forward to family events. He was a member of the Sauk Prairie Bald Head Club, Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7964 and St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
Norbert is survived by six sons, David (Theresa) Baier, Randy (Joan) Baier, Gary Baier, Rick Baier, Kurt (Shannan) Baier, and Todd (Kim) Baier; 12 grandchildren, Anthony (Sophia), Courtney (Jordan) Grimes, Dylan (Brianna), Hollyanne (Tyler Plescia), Matthew, Lucas (Alicia Martin-Vega), Ciara, Kursha, Thea, Kylie, Adam, and Klaire Baier; 4 great grandchildren, Everly, Ella, Norah and Giselle and one more on the way; a sister in-law, Arlene "Pat" Baier. Norbert is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Delores, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tiffany Baier; 9 Siblings, Marvin, Cora, Arthur, Leonard, Gerard, Edwin, and Werner Baier, Marie Stapelman, and Loretta Reuter.
A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Fri. Jan. 8, 2021 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City. Interment with Military Honors accorded by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694 will follow in the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
Norbert's family would like to thank his caregivers at Maplewood for their wonderful care.
