Norbert Frank Barbian, age 84, died on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Waunakee Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Roxbury on August 7, 1924, the son of the late Mathias and Magdelina (Werla) Barbian. He was united in marriage to Margaret Mary Metz on October 25, 1950. The couple farmed in Roxbury for many years. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2001. Norbert was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church, Roxbury. He is survived by seven children, Cathy Barbian of Sauk City, Helen (Duane) Pauls of Waunakee, John Barbian of Sauk City, Joe Barbian of Madison, Jerome Barbian of DeForest, Rita (Mike) Sanchez of Cross Plains, Pat Barbian of Blue Mounds; a sister, Julia Bannon of Prairie du Sac; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by and infant son, Robert Thomas; three brothers, Ray, Frank and Lawrence Barbian; and a sister, Marie Lamberty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. NORBERT'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Roxbury, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 with Fr. Miguel Galvez officiating. Burial will be in St. Norbert's Cemetery. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009.
