Obituary

Norbert J. Roth, age 95, of Roxbury, WI passed away Monday, October 24, 2022. He was born September 6, 1927 to Alois and Helena (Seiler) Roth. He married Deanna (Barbian) on September 10, 1957 in Roxbury.

How does one sum up 95 years in a couple of short paragraphs? After growing up on the family farm in Roxbury, Norbert "Bobby" Served in the Army during the Korean War as a Combat Medic with the 45 th Infantry Division and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He said he went through the Panama Canal when he was in the Army. "…shipped out of Louisiana to Japan. Was a little scary. The ship went up and down in the waves and the water came up over the ship. I had my truck with me, a 2 ½ ton truck." He also shared stories of driving a milk truck and building the barn next to the Roxbury Tavern when he was 17. His first car was a 1941 Chevy. He worked at Oscar Mayer for 37 years until he retired. When he was able, he liked to go for rides with anyone who would take him. He liked to go to Costco and eat samples and he loved his chocolate malts and his sweets! He would drink one everyday if we brought them. He told his great grandson, Cashton, one day, "Life is short, eat dessert first!" He also enjoyed keeping his yard trimmed and tidy for sure. Wheel of Fortune, Survivor and his daytime soap were on his schedule and must not be missed! He enjoyed picking up hickory nuts for many years, reading his Kindle, and doing the daily cryptoquote. He was an active member of Facebook and kept his hummingbirds fed. What will Roxbury do without him to keep an eye on things? Maybe he's still watching over all of us to make sure the twigs are picked up! He will be missed by many. We love you!

Preceded in death by his wife, Deanna, and son, Daniel, his parents, Alois and Helena, brothers, Allie (Phyllis), John, Mattie (Antoinette), Wernie (Millie), Anthony, Ervin (Lovina), Elmer (Nancy), Florian, and a sister, Mary (Victor) Breunig.

Survived by daughters Colleen (Al) Roth-Hornung, Sherry Brassington, Vicki (Scott), Grandchildren Jessica Suchla, Adam Brassington, Leah Brassington, Megan (Kevin) Sarchet, Jake (Special friend Lily) Pobjoy, and Great grandchild, Cashton Suchla.
