Norman Leo Brown

Norman Leo Brown, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sept. 10, 2026 at Serenity Springs Residence in Madison. He was born Dec. 2, 1944 and grew up in the Madison area, graduating from Madison East High; class of 1964. At the age of 18 he joined the Iron Workers Local 383 as an apprentice, eventually earning his journeyman status. For over 40 years he worked for many construction companies including Sullivan, Findorf, and eventually retiring from Selden Steel after building and working on several Madison area and surrounding landmark buildings. Norm was known for his work ethic, integrity, and mentoring numerous young apprentices.

Norman loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He grew up fishing the Madison lakes and learned all the good spots. In the winter, he would ice fish as soon as the ice was strong enough. He was a longtime member of the Yahara Fisherman’s Club. In his younger years, when not working or fishing, he could be found on the diamond, playing fast pitch softball throughout Madison.

Norman is survived by his wife, Anne; daughters, Monica (Wesley) Hasheider and their children Dylan (Kady) Hasheider and Kassie (Domenick) Goodman; Inga (Eric Johnson) Habada and her daughter, Jenna (Connor) Leister. Norman is further survived by 5 great grandchildren, Alex, Corra, Brody, Cooper and Robbie; a brother Myron “Mike” (Donna) Brown, sister in-law Chomie Butler; former son in law, Jim Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby (Butler) and step father, Robert Madigan; brother, Charles “Chuck” Butler; and a niece, Jaclyn.

Norman’s family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the wonderful care givers at Serenity Springs-Moe, Soloman, MJ, Zak, Gaheyr, Idiris, and Nur. Thank you.
