Obituary

Norman E. Schroeder entered into eternity on Saturday, Nov. 9th, 2024 at Meriter Hospital to join his heavenly family, older brother Russell, parents Edwin and Betty (Wade) Schroeder, sister Sharon Lomas and an infant niece, Peggy Sue Lawler.

Norman entered into this world having to overcome some major obstacles right from birth, which required extensive surgeries and hospital stays.  He grew up in the Vermont Township with his four siblings.  Norman attended Black Earth Elementary School and graduated from Wisconsin Heights High School in 1976.  As a young man he held jobs detasseling corn, working at a plastic factory and a cheese plant.  In 1976 his family moved from their country home to rural Mazomanie to Lloyd and Myra Wendt's Dairy farm.  For 30 years Norman and his brother Harlan ran the dairy operation which included plenty of field work too.  In the mid 2000's the farm was sold and Norman, Harlan and Edwin moved to the Blue Mounds area, where Norman found a job as a hired farm hand.

Norman had many health challenges and working wasn't always easy, but he didn't give up and was always keeping the farm equipment going.  He was a simple man, enjoyed the country life having a small hobby farm, and led a quiet life; never boasting about his accomplishments or complaining about the health challenges that life dealt him.

He is survived by his beloved dog, Luke; siblings, Harlan Schroeder of Blue Mounds, Eileen (Greg) Zander of Cross Plains, Allen (Lauri) Schroeder of LaValle; and brother in-law, Jim Lomas, of Lena, Il.  Norman is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service for Norman will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024 at Hooverson Funeral Home, 702 Emily Rd., Mazomanie with Pastor Scott Schroeder celebrating, a luncheon will follow.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be held in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Reedsburg.

Norman's family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Hupp and Emily at the Wisconsin Heights Clinic and to the 11th floor Meriter Hospital Nurse Emily for her compassion and care of Norman during his final days.
