Patricia Schutt, age 79, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Oak Park Place of Baraboo. She was born May 21, 1931 in Springfield, IL. to Henry F. and Louise Kerin Meyer. She graduated in 1949 from Springfield High School and was a member of the class of 1953 at Carthage College, Carthage, IL. She sang in the college choir for two years and was privileged in 1996 to go on a European choir tour with the Alumni Choir. Pat majored in English and Education and later became certified as a school librarian and worked at the Baraboo Middle School for 25 years.

She was married to Gene Schutt of Harvard, IL. whom she met at Carthage College in 1952. They celebrated 50 golden years together in August, 2002. Pat enjoyed singing, reading and traveling all her life, but her greatest joy was that she was the proud mother of six wonderful children,
Kathy (Steve Oulman) Schutt, Sue (Al) Ferstl, Jan Carroll, Pam Schutt, Mike (Julie) Schutt and Scott (Traci) Schutt. Her special joy was her eleven grandchildren, Casey and Riley Carroll, Danielle and Haley Ferstl and Hannah, Emily, Jacob, Angela, Aaron, Ben and Sara Schutt. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, a sister, Sister Mary Rosaire of Springfield, IL., and a brother, Bob Meyer of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; beloved brothers, Joe Kerin and Jim Meyer; and a granddaughter, Ariel Ferstl.


A private service was held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Prairie du Sac, on Friday, November 26, 2010. Memorials may be given to the Ruth Culver Library.
