Patrick "Pat" T. McKune, 81, of Prairie du Sac passed away quietly at Maplewood Nursing Home on March 10, 2014. Pat was born on January 23, 1933 to Margaret and Thomas McKune, and grew up on the family farm in Plain with his grandmother Mary Smyth. He graduated from Spring Green High School in 1951 and enlisted in the U.S. Army Airborne the following fall. He had paratroop jump training at Ft. Bening, Georgia and was sent to Munich, Germany. Pat came back home two and a half years later and worked at Badger Village. He met and married Donna Block on September 29, 1956 at St. Aloysius Church, and they were together 46 years until she passed away in 2002. Pat was in the appliance business for most of his working life, and most recently was the secretary-treasurer for the Prairie du Sac Cemetery.


Pat is survived by three children, James (Sandra) of Dayton, OH, Vicki (friend, Paul) of Baraboo,  Thomas (Jessica) of Prairie du Sac. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Alexandria "Sandy" (William "Bill") of Crystal Lake, IL; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a son Michael, who died in 1987.


A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 with Fr. John Blewett officiating.  A lunch will follow in the school gymnasium.  Burial will be at a later date in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery.    A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.
