IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patsy
Hering
August 5, 1940 – April 24, 2025
Patsy Hering, age 84, of Prairie du Sac, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, April 24, 2025, at the Pines Assisted Living. She was born on August 5, 1940, in Sauk County, the daughter of the late LaVesta and LaVerne Ott.
Patsy was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and joy. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many others whose lives she touched. Patsy cared deeply for her family and friends, not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help or show up at her grandchildren's events.
Patsy attended Castle Rock school through 8th grade and graduated from Sauk City High School in 1958. She worked a variety of jobs, but the one she was most proud of was being a stay-at-home mom to her three children. She worked part-time at Woods Riverside while they were in school, Ganser's Dime Store, and later in life at Fiskars in Sauk City, where she eventually retired. After retiring, she delivered meals on wheels to those in the Sauk area. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, sewing, playing dominoes, the card game "gulf," bunco, and traveling. Her last trip was to see the great wilderness in Alaska, a bucket list wish of hers. She was known for her famous sweet green pickles, which became a family tradition for all holidays and gatherings.
Patsy is survived by her children, Susan (Kevin) Weitzel of Black Earth, and Bradley (Amie) Hering of Waunakee; five grandchildren, Jason (Kristen) Duhr, Tacy (Nick) Peterson, Emily Weitzel, Devin Hering, and Breann Hering; and great-grandchildren, Blayke Peterson and Ellie Peterson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rosella Hering.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVesta and LaVerne Ott; stepmother, Joan Ott; daughters, Vicki Duhr, and newborn twins; siblings, Toddy (Earl) Loether, Russel Ott, Roger (Loraine) Ott, and Ester (Clifford) Kaufman; and her beloved cat, George, whose ashes will be resting with her.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, May 9, 2025, at First United Church of Christ, Sauk City. A visitation will be held at the church from 4pm until 7pm on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
The family would like to give a special thank you to The Pines Memory Care staff for their care of Patsy.
