IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patsy C.
Sarbacker
July 22, 1940 – August 20, 2025
Patsy C. Sarbacker, age 85, was called home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, completely surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness. She was born on July 22, 1940, at Madison General Hospital to the late Carl and Eleanor (McCann) Sarbacker Jr.
Patsy grew up in Paoli before moving to Madison as a teenager. She graduated from Central High School in 1958. While raising her children, she worked several jobs before beginning a 32-year career with the City of Madison, retiring from the Comptroller's Office in 2005.
Family was the heart of Patsy's life. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always cheering them on in their many activities—from sports and band performances to bowling. Bowling was one of Patsy's greatest passions. An avid and accomplished bowler, she bowled in as many as three leagues a week in her younger years and was proud to share that love of the game with her family. She also enjoyed trips to the casino and loved playing cards, especially Euchre and Cribbage. Teaching her grandchildren to play was a special joy, and every now and then, she might even let them win.
A true Wisconsinite, Patsy was a devoted fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. Whether it was baseball season or football season, she could always be found rooting for her teams with enthusiasm. Above all, she cherished time with her family, who were the center of her world.
Patsy is survived by her children: Patti Reinhold, Dodie Kempfer, Verna (Jewitt) White, Robert (Michele) Kempfer, and Lois Wiltrout; 13 grandchildren: Acadia, Rebecca, Amy, Anthony, Jayne, Katie Rose, Jessie, Annie, Jewitt IV, Taarna, Kendra, Jonathan, and Dakota; 18 exchange student "grandchildren"; many great-grandchildren; siblings Sherri Anderegg and Rick (Ruth) Sarbacker Sr.; and sister-in-law Sue Sarbacker. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Bonnie Braund, Roger Sarbacker, Lila Milazzo, and Rita (Don) Hocking.
In keeping with Patsy's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Patsy's family extends heartfelt gratitude to her granddaughters Katie Rose White and Amy Johnson, both CNA's, whose loving care and support meant so much.
