Obituary

Paul M. Beerkircher, age 84, passed away Nov. 29, 2022.  He was born in Dodgeville on June 3, 1938 to the late Merlyn and Sally Beerkircher.  Paul met his loving wife, Midge, in 1992.  They were companions, partners and sweethearts; together they had many wonderful adventures.

He was a member of the Prairie du Sac Fire Department for 25 years; retiring in 1990.  For 13 of those years he was the Chief.  Paul was selected as the Wisconsin Firefighter of the Year in 1975; and on a local level he was the Firefighter of the Year in 1979 and 1989.  Paul was United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving in Okinawa, Midway Islands, and Korea. He is a member of the Lachmund Cramer VFW Post 7694 and the First United Church of Christ, Sauk City.

Paul drove bus for the Sauk Prairie School District for nearly 30 years.  He drove for Boehmer Farms, Jensen Bus Lines and Lamers Bus Service.  He enjoyed the kids along his routes and they sure loved to tease him.  He was the owner of Eagle Valley Appliance Repair Service LLC; he was well known for his excellent service, serving clients from Sauk Prairie, Lodi, Baraboo, Mazomanie and the surrounding areas.

Paul loved fishing, hunting and trapping.  He enjoyed trips out west with his father.  Oh, the stories he could tell.  Paul and Midge would make yearly trips to South Dakota.  There they enjoyed the scenery, sightseeing, museums, and western history.  They looked forward to the rodeos, visiting their friends in Lower Brule, S.D. and of course trying their luck in Deadwood.

He will be missed by his loving wife, Midge; son, Tim (Deb Page) Beerkircher; two daughters, Cheri (John) Tovar and Fawn (Jeff) Dyrud; his brother, Allen (Paulette) Beerkircher and his sister, Patricia Boehmer; step-son, Rod (Michelle) Kruckman and stepdaughters, Deanna (Wade) Blum and Shawn Mezera; nine grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother in-law, John Boehmer and father and mother in-law, Charles and Arlene Voelz.

Midge would like to express her sincerest thanks to Maplewood Nursing Home for the excellent care they provided Paul.

As per Paul's wishes a private graveside service will be held at the Sauk City Cemetery with Military Honors Accorded by Lachmund Cramer VFW Post 7694.
