Pearl Avery Henry, age 91, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Madison on October 22, 1922 to the late Jerome and Jessie (Blizzard) Avery. She married Robert J. Henry on June 6, 1945. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1985. She cared for her parents until they passed away. She was a kind and gentle person, who was filled with high spirit and good fun. Besides her family, she leaves behind many good friends, neighbors, and her church family. We will miss her, but know in our hearts, she is with The Lord.


She is survived by her 3 children, Viola "Cookie" (Ronald) Voelker of Waunakee, Robert (Connie) Henry of Prairie du Sac, and Jonathan (Marilynn Jensen) Henry of LaCrosse; a sister, Joanne (Roger) Schluter of Baraboo; four grandchildren, Ronda (David) McDonald of Ontario, Canada, David (Laura) Voelker of Broadhead, Christopher Henry of Sauk City, and Melissa (Geoff) Hoglund of Columbus; six great-grandchildren, Bradley, Bryan and Hannah McDonald, Gavin Hoglund, Jasmine Pearl, and Lilli Voelker. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.


In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Way of Madison and Dorothy Hoffman of Pardeville; and two brothers, Robert Avery of Merrimac and William LaVern Avery of San Jose, CA.


A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00am at St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, and also on Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Sauk Prairie Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac.
