Peggy Rickey, age 77, died on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family. She was born in Iowa County on December 8, 1930, the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Reynolds) Stapleton. She was united in marriage to Marvin L. Rickey on September 25, 1947. The couple celebrated 60 years of marriage before Marvin passed away on November 18, 2007. Peggy's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by 5 children, David (Connie) of Mazomanie, Linda (Ralph) Gander of Mazomanie, Susan (Don Hosking) Van Riper of Mazomanie, Ginny (Mike) Hudson of Montello and Doug (Cindy) of Middleton; 10 grandchildren, Tricia (Bob) Maier, Craig (Crysta) Rickey, Jill Barsness, Jodi Randall, Ryan (Carrie) Van Riper, Nicki (Bob) Van Riper, Andy and Lindsey Ambler, and Michael and Megan Rickey; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Daniel (June) Stapleton of Arizona; a sister, Marion Swenson of Madison; sister-in-law, Delila Rickey of Ridgeway; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Leo Stapleton; a sister, Elaine Gust; and grandson-in-law, Jason Randall. Funeral services will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Highway 14 West, Mazomanie, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2008 with the Rev. Mark Detter officiating. Burial will be in St. Barnabas Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2008.
