Peter Charles Ferry, age 64, of rural Prairie du Sac, WI passed away at Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care, Fitchburg, WI, on 5/14/2016 of complications from several health issues. Peter was born on May 26, 1951 and lived his entire life at the family residence on Dam Heights Road. He graduated from Sauk Prairie High School and attended UW Baraboo. He was a devoted employee of Sauk City Canning Company and Lakeside Foods, Reedsburg from which he retired early due to health issues.

Peter was the unofficial family historian and genealogy expert. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and attending farmers markets later in life when his health prevented gardening. Area birds will miss his filled bird feeders. He enjoyed the companionship of several different pets over the year. But Pete's biggest legacy is the loving care he gave to his mother during the thirty year period after his dad passed away in 1983 and when his mother moved to assisted living. Siblings feel that this bond had a lot to do with his mother being able to celebrate her 100th birthday this March.

Pete is survived by his mother, Eleanor Ferry; brother, Darwin (Peg) Ferry, Jr; brother, James (Karen) Ferry; sister, Nancy (Arvin) Larson; sister, Mary Jo (Chris) Christensen; brother, Noel (Marleen) Ferry; sister, Barbara (Dean) Sprecher; sister, Jill (Mark) Farber; and brother, Steve (Jan) Ferry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darwin J. Ferry, Sr.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sandesh Parajuli and the staff at UW Kidney Transplant Clinic, Madison, for providing such excellent care to Peter when he needed it so often over the past seven years. Thank you to Maplewood Nursing home staff for recently providing rehab services to Peter. Thank you to Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care, Fitchburg, WI for providing Pete the comfort he needed in his final days.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Black Hawk Bethlehem United Methodist Church, S10173 County Road C, Sauk City, WI. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Sauk Prairie Ambulance Service in appreciation for the members who responded to the countless emergency calls from Peter.
