Obituary

Peter G. Haines passed away on June 10th, 2016 at his home in Prairie du Sac, WI. Pete was raised in Arcadia, WI where he graduated from Arcadia High School. On Friday, June 13, 1975 Pete married the love of his life, Cecy Von Behren. Through Pete's job with AXA/Equitable Life, their married life took them to Springfield, MA, Bellevue, WA and back home again to Wisconsin and the Sauk Prairie area.

Pete was an active member of the Coulee Region Officials Association, the Sauk Prairie Area Community Club and a founding member of both, the Onalaska Little League and the Sauk Prairie Area Little League. While Pete experienced much success in his career, his proudest moments came as an official for high school and college basketball, as well as high school, college and semi-pro football.

Pete loved watching the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, the Milwaukee Brewers and sporting competitions of all kinds. Pete also never missed an opportunity to show a child his incredible magic act of "disappearing a quarter" only to later have it return from thin air, in their hair or out of their ears.

Pete is survived by his wife, Cecy; son, Randy (Meijein) Haines; grandsons, Nathan (Kellie) Haines, Adam Haines (Mackenzie Watters) and Alex Lewis; granddaughters, Sela Lewis and Mina Haines; great grandsons, Maddux, Weston and Hudson Haines; great granddaughter, Arietta Gail Lewis; sister, Marlene Mulrine; mother-in-law, Verna Von Behren; sisters-in-law, Connie Harrison, Cathy (Kelly) Riley, Chris (Julio) Del Cioppo, Anna Woods and Debbie Brickl; brothers-in-law, Alan (Shari) Von Behren, Jr and Brad (Bobbi) Von Behren. Pete is further survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many dear friends.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Arvilla Haines; a daughter, Susan Haines-Lewis; father-in-law, Alan Von Behren, Sr; and sisters, Rea Gamoke, Fritzie Peterson and Nancy Mollert; brothers-in-law, Joe Gamoke, Ronald (Bud) Peterson, Tom Mulrine, Bob Mollert and Dean Harrison, Sr.

The family would like to give their sincere thanks to Dr. John Koch and Kathy Holum of Prairie Clinic for their many years of kind caring for Pete. Thanks also to Kevin Klingenmeyer, RN and the staff of Agrace Hospice for their loving and patient care as Pete made his journey home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at St Aloysius Catholic Church, 115 Madison Street Sauk City, WI.
