IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phil H.
Endres
November 22, 1930 – November 14, 2024
Philip Hubert Endres, age 93, of Mazomanie passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Waunakee Valley Senior Living Center on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
If you were lucky enough to know Phil, you knew he had several nicknames: Hubert, Hubie, Judge Wapner and Philabuck were just a few of them. He was the King of Cobble and MacGyvered anything that he thought needed fixing or tweaking with masking tape, wire and/or nails.
His father was a painter, and Phil owned Endres Painting & Sons and proudly worked with his sons Tony and Daryl for many years. Later on his then-to-be son-in-law Greg (Tara) Roessler worked with him for many more years until he retired, when Greg then took the business over.
Phil was an avid hunter, trap shooter (where he won many trophies and National Titles), fisherman, gardener, and usually to the dismay of Mary, an epic joke teller. He and Mary loved gambling and their trips to Ho-Chunk and Las Vegas.
He served as the Mazomanie Municipal Court Judge and the Mazomanie-Black Earth Joint Municipal Court Judge for 38 years.
In his younger years he played baseball and loved telling stories of his glory days as a catcher. He was a devoted fan of the Brewers, Badgers, Packers and Mazomanie Home Talent. He was also known to sit directly behind the umpire and heckle them regularly.
He had a heart of gold and cherished Mary. When she passed away, he was broken hearted and simply wanted to be reunited with her and Tony. The staff at Waunakee Valley Senior Living always commented that they could only hope that one day, their partners would cherish and love them the way our dad cherished our mom throughout her life and especially in her final days on earth.
Phil was born November 22, 1930 to Anton J. and Louisa M. (Schneider) Endres. He served in the US Navy from 1947 to 1949. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Arlys Fangmeier on October 25, 1952.
Phil is survived by Phil & Mary's children: Julie (Dennis) Maier, Patrice (Dale) Sutton, Jeanine (Jerry) Acker, Daryl (Julie) Endres, Tara (Greg) Roessler; their grandchildren: Jolene (Aaron) Kent, Stephanie Maier, Amber (Rodney) Breunig, Michelle (Dan) Rose, Janelle
(Travis) Dyreson, Jenna Endres, Cory (Sara) Acker, Kelli (Brian) Noltner, Allison (Kyle) Blackbourn; great grandchildren: Hunter and Paige Kent, Darien and Levi Lathrop, Miranda and Easton Breunig, Aspen and Ryder, Colton and Andrea Dyreson and Ivan Acker; brother-in-law Fritz (Carolyn) Fangmeier and many nieces, nephews, relatives and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, son Tony, his parents, 8 brothers, 1 sister, 2 sister-in-laws and 1 brother-in-law and their partners.
You will be dearly missed by all, but will forever remain in our hearts Dad.
A Celebration of Life for Phil will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Grandma Mary's Cafe in Arena where Military Honors will be accorded at 2:30 pm by the Arena VFW and Mazomanie American Legion Posts.
