Rachel A. Gasser, age 91, died January 31, 2016 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born May 4, 1924 at home on Tower Rock Farm in Sauk County, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Theodore and Carrie (Lawrenz) Gasser. She enjoyed working a few years at Honey Creek Valley Co-op as a bookkeeper until she felt called into the ministry in which she started in 1951. After a few years in Wisconsin, she spent most of her years in Europe, mainly in Germany. She returned to Wisconsin in 2004 due to failing health. She spent the last few years at The Pines of Prairie du Sac.
She is survived by one sister, Joyce Gasser, and one brother, Rodney (Carol) Gasser, both of Prairie du Sac. She is further survived by three nephews, William (Alma) Gasser of Prairie du Sac, Richard Gasser of Alabama, Glenn Gasser of South Dakota, one niece, Cindy (Curt) Pheifer of Fremont, WI, 5 great nephews, 2 great nieces and a great-great niece and nephew, as well as a host of friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 6 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 until time of the service at the River Arts Center Auditorium, 105 9th St., Prairie du Sac, WI.
