Obituary

Ralph Eugene Gander was born on January 28, 1949 on his mother's family farm in Ontario, Wisconsin to the late Reginald Gander and Shirley Lewis.  Ralph, born during a snowstorm, made an unforgettable entrance into the world and spent the rest of his life positively impacting anyone that crossed his path. At a young age, Ralph developed an unparalleled work ethic in order to help his family survive.  He was a straight A-student, an award-winning musician; and eventually served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  After his service, Ralph became enamored with carpentry and a young woman named Linda Rickey.  He would go on to work for Findorff and Sons for close to 40 years and be married to Linda for 50 years.  In that time, Ralph never uttered the word "no" to a request for help and was greatly admired for his knowledge and craftsmanship.  Ralph's most beloved creations included his two daughters and his grandchildren.  He thoroughly enjoyed golf, trips to Myrtle Beach, and puzzles. Life threw its worst at him, but he championed every obstacle with a smile on his face, a corny joke, and a "thank you" to everyone.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Jill (Chris) Johnson and Jodi (Nick) Frank; brother Dan (Mary) Gander; sisters Rhonda Hudson (the late Donald LaGesse) and Kathy (Mike) Blaser; in-laws, nieces, nephews, many friends, and the loves of his life; grandchildren, Rachel (Ted) Barsness, Brody Randall, and Mason Barsness.

Thank you to every medical staff member since 2006 that has helped our family; especially Dr. Hupp and Ann.  We are eternally grateful.

In lieu of flowers, please try to model Ralph's practice of, "Do unto others as you would have done unto you."

A celebration of Ralph's life will be held at Grandma Mary's Cafe/Brisbane Hall on Sunday, April 28 from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm in Arena, Wisconsin.
