Raymond Joseph Fassbender, age 84, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison from complications of lung cancer. He was born in Roxbury, Oct., 21, 1925 to the late Carl and Leontina (Breunig) Fassbender. Raymond married Opal Park April 11, 1950 at St. Norbert's Church in Roxbury, she preceded him in death in 1987. Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He worked for Oscar Mayer in Madison for 40 years before retiring in 1989. Raymond enjoyed bowling and bowled on several leagues around Madison and competed in several national ABC Tournaments. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and putzing in his garage.
He is survived by 3 children;

10 grand-children, 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by an infant son Robert C. Fassbender, daughter Susan Driver, a brother Leon "Fuzzy", and a sister Janet.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 10:30am at St. Norbert's in Roxbury. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME in Sauk City on Friday, August 6, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Saturday one hour prior to service at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Church Cemetery.
