Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Wipperfurth, age 87, passed away unexpectedly at his home Friday, November 17, 2023.  He was born at home on April 25, 1936 to the late Werner and Florentina (Werla) Wipperfurth.  He attended Sauk City High School graduating in 1954.  Ray married Shirley Kippley November 4, 1958; she preceded him in death on August 15, 2019.  Raymond served his country in the United States Army 1961 - 1963 and served his community as a member of the Sauk City Fire Dept. for over 26 years, from 1963 until 1989.

Ray was a craftsman and carpenter his whole life for Wipperfurth Construction Co until he retired in 1998. He found joy and pride in building homes and many projects. He enjoyed never-ending hours of fishing and hunting with his brothers, his children and grandchildren. Ray was an avid sheepshead player and participated in many card games with his friends and family.  Every Monday, he went to the casino for Military Monday and stopped on the way home to get a Sky High apple pie. Recently, Ray could be found spending many hours out in front of his house watching the birds and feeding the squirrels.

Ray is survived by his 5 sons, Jeff Wipperfurth, George (Connie) Wipperfurth and their children, Kimberly and Nicholas, Duane (Lynn) and their daughters, Miranda (Bryan Roy) and Amber (Josh Erinsse), Richard (Sue) and their son Jaxon; and Keith Wipperfurth; he is further survived by a sister, Helen (Ronnie) Meinholz; sisters in-law, Nancy and Ann Wipperfurth; and in-laws, Virginia (Phillip) Rauls, Lloyd (Edith) Kippley, Beverly (Jack) Breunig, Marlene Kippley, and Lucy Kippley.

In addition to his parents and wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur, Robert, Sylvester, Alvin, Jerome, Leo, Joe and sisters Pat Swingle and Delores Frey, two infant siblings Norbert and Darlene.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at St. Norberts Catholic Church, 8944 County Highway Y, Sauk City.  A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Friday, November 24, 2023, with a rosary held at 3:00 pm, at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City; visitation will also be held the morning of mass from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at Hooverson Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the St. Aloysius Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694.
