Rene R. Gasner, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born on July 28, 1925 in Troy Township the son of the late Gilbert and Katherine (Accola) Gasner. He was united in marriage to Lucile Kleinert, his high school sweetheart, on April 12, 1947 in Sauk City, WI
Rene served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946. His ship, the Henry A Wiley, received a Presidential Citation. He found his calling as a painting contractor, a career that spanned 50 years.
Rene was a helpful and outgoing person. Conversations with anyone attest to this and he knew "everyone". He was always ready to help his son with any conceivable project. His church was important and he served it as head usher and as a consistory member. Fishing, water skiing and hunting were a few of his passions. "The Pack Is Back" was a favorite phrase of this life long Packer fan.
Rene is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lucile Gasner, son Tom (Ann) Gasner; brother-in-law, Russell Gasser; and several nieces and nephews.
Rene's family would like to thank all of his care givers at Maplewood Sauk Prairie for their talent, compassion, friendship and generous sharing of their time.
We will have a celebration of Rene's life on a yet to be determined date. A graveside ceremony was held Sat.,May 2nd.
