Richard G. "Dick" Paul, of Prairie du Sac, age 78, found peace on Sat., February 14, 2015, at Maplewood Nursing Home. Dick was born, Nov. 11, 1936, in the home of his parents George and Minnie (nee Draheim) Paul in Wheatland Township, Day County, South Dakota. Dick is the youngest of five boys, Joseph died as an infant, Charles (Shirley) live in Florida, half brother, Harry and Royal (Ruth) both deceased. Dick grew up on a farm and loved to fish with his father and was an excellent shot with a shotgun, hunting most of the small game in the area. He attended all eight grades in a country school in the same township. The attendance in the country school was normally less than 15, with all eight grades in the same classroom. Dick went on to attend Webster High School in Webster, South Dakota. He played the trumpet in the band and participated in the track team.
He graduated in 1955 and moved away from Webster to start his life with his first wife, Evelyn (nee Peterson) divorced. Dick and his family settled in Cudahy and took a job at Ladish Drop Forge making solid O-Rings for planes. Dick and some of his friends from Ladish created a hunting and fishing group and they called themselves the Spinners. After Ladish Dick worked as a Repossession Officer, Loan Officer at East Side Chevrolet, and as a Car Salesman.
He married Carol (nee Dobrzynski) on Jan. 14, 1967. They moved from Cudahy to Oak Creek and he took a position at M&I Bank on 83rd and Silver Spring in Milwaukee under Mel Popp and worked there until he retired. In 1975 Dick and his family moved to Waukesha where they lived until they moved to Prairie du Sac in 2002.
After retirement he worked part time for Concrete Raising Corporation. One thing that never changed for Dick throughout his life was his love for family, the outdoors and his love for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed family vacations each year and his fishing and hunting trips with both his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; three children; Deann (Randy) Behnke of Delafield, Stacy of Merrimac, Tracy of Waukesha; Brother, Charlie (Shirley) of Ft Myers Beach. He was the proud grandpa to Eric (Emily) Behnke of Appleton and Kelli Behnke of Delafield and great-grandpa to Collin, Elizabeth, Meghan and Jacob. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Joseph, Harry and Royal; Sister in Law, Ruth; Nephews; Richard and Kenneth Paul; Brother in Laws; Michael and Ronald Dobrzynski.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon at Concordia United Methodist Church, 585 5th St., Prairie du Sac. A lunch will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
