Richard Vincent Fassbender, age 95, passed away at his home in Roxbury on Thursday January 29th, 2026.  He was born at home in the Town of Roxbury on March 9, 1930 to the late Carl and Leontina (Breunig) Fassbender.  Richard was united in marriage to Eleanore Endres at St. John's Catholic Church, Waunakee on April 14, 1952; celebrating 70 years together before her passing in 2022.  Together, they farmed in Middleton before settling in the Town of Berry where they farmed for many years until they moved back to Roxbury.

He was a member of the St. Norbert's Catholic Church choir for many years. Of most importance was Richard's family; he loved family gatherings and visits from his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his children: Susan Walsh, Ramona Gehrke, Richard Jr. (Annette), Corinne Kind, Paul, Margaret Eaton, and Sarah Mamerow; 13 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and brother LeRoy. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two children, Ann and Joseph; son in-law, David Gehrke, daughter in-law, Dawn Fassbender; and brothers Leon, Clifford, Raymond and John, and sisters Joann and Carol.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Father James, Pat and Jackey Drone, Jim and Karen Breunig and family, and Tom and Kim Machaj for the affection, care and support shown to our parents, especially during our Dad's final years.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at the Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City, and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., at St. Norbert's Catholic Church, Roxbury. A private interment will be held in spring.
