Richard Gerald Fisher

Richard Gerald Fisher, age 85, of Baraboo, Wisconsin and formerly of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, passed away in his home at Oak Park Place on August 19, 2026, after a long struggle with COPD. He was born in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, on June 1, 1941 to the late Leonard and Lydia (Schultz) Fisher. Richard graduated from Baraboo High School, class of 1960. He was united in marriage to Jean Markhardt on May 18, 1963 at the First Lutheran Church in Lodi, Wisconsin.

Early in his career, Richard worked as a Water Filtration Technician at Badger Ordnance while he and Jean resided in Baraboo. They eventually settled in Prairie du Sac to raise their two girls, where Richard worked in construction and remodeling for a couple of local carpenters - even building his own family home. Using his craftsmanship skills, he started his own business, Custom Billiards Manufacturing. An avid pool player, Richard competed in several leagues over the years in both the Baraboo and Sauk Prairie areas. Around the same time, he started and ran a second business, Fisher Pro Painting.

Richard was kind, patient and deeply believed in self-discipline and doing the right thing. Always willing to help people in need, he often donated his time to others. As a devout Christian with a strong faith in God, Richard was highly active in his church community, particularly through Bible studies and prison ministries. In his free time, he also enjoyed watching football and listening to banjo music.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean; two daughters, Angela Johnson and Kimberly Fisher; two grandchildren, Dakota (Jordan) Madison and Joshua Johnson; one step-grandson, Tim Johnson, Jr.; four great-grandchildren: Leia, Avianna, Beau Richard and Jordan, Jr.; and four siblings: Janice Strampe, Patricia Dahl, Linda (Don) Taskonis and Joseph (Joan) Fisher; as well as many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Leonard, Jr., Mildred, Margaret, Kathryn, Walter and Ruth.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the friends, neighbors and church family who have offered their love, prayers and support during this time.
