Obituary

Richard "Dick" H. Ederer, age 72, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at his home. He was born February 20, 1941 on a farm just north of Prairie du Sac, to the late Raymond and Caroline (Ferstl) Ederer. Shortly after he was born, Dick's family had to relocate to make way for the construction of the Badger Army Ammunition Plant. His family moved to farm near the Sauk County Hospital and Home near Reedsburg. He attended the one-room school house, appropriately named the County Farm School. Dick farmed with his parents and was proud to have served in the United States Army from 1964-1965. He married Marilyn Zick on October 26, 1968, she preceded him in death on June 15, 2004. She was the love of his life for 35 years. Alongside his wife Marilyn, they owned and operated Roses Bar in Sauk City from 1972 until 1978. Dick worked for Fuchs Trucking in Sauk City for 35 years and drove over 3 million miles without a highway accident, a feat he was always proud of.

He was a lifetime fan of the Badgers and Green Bay Packers, enjoyed trips to Nelson, WI near the Mississippi River, camping in Montello and Northern Wisconsin, and rides in the country, stopping in at the country bars to socialize with his many friends. Dick was a member of Divine Mercy Parish in Sauk City.

He is survived by his daughter, Karla (Tim Smith) Ederer of Sauk City; a brother, Donald (Marlene) Ederer of Loyal, WI; a half-brother, Marvin (Gloria Young) Alt of Cottonville, Az; a sister and brother in-law, JoAnn and Ivan Steckleberg of Denzer; nieces and nephews, Donna, Elena, Carol, Mary, Eva, Barbara, Ivan Jr., Brenda, Michael and Beth.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister in-law, Joan Alt.
