Richard James Pfeifer, age 64, passed away on Tues., Feb. 7, 2017. He came into the world on July 30, 1952, in Green Bay; needless to say he was a big Packer fan. Richard lived a very full life. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, with bow hunting being his favorite. He enjoyed the outdoors more than anything. Richard had a long career in public service, spanning 34 years, beginning with the City of Madison Parks Dept., and then the UW Space Astronomy and the Chemistry Dept. as an Advanced Instrument Maker. His time at Space Astronomy was his favorite because he worked closely with his father, Richard H Pfeifer. Rick became my husband on June 30, 1983 and took my four children under his wing.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn M Pfeifer; his four stepchildren, Andrea Monson (Eric Johnson), Jenifer (Jason) Gaspar, Sean (Dinelli) Monson and Nathan Monson; 7 grandchildren; his sister Toni (Ben) Kollmansberger and their 3 children.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard H. Pfeifer and his mother Dolores Pfeifer, both of whom he loved immensely.

Richard had such a good and giving heart and that is what counts in life.

Goodbye my friend, my love. May your next journey be as great as your time here on Earth. He will be sorely missed. God Bless.
