Rita Stoikes, age 78, died on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ontario, WI on November 28, 1933, the daughter of the late George and Lenore (Gratz) Resch. She graduated from Ontario High School in 1951, where she was the Majorette of the high school band. Rita then worked for a few years in LaCrosse and attended vocational school. She was united in marriage to Carl E. Stoikes on August 27, 1955. Rita loved nature, travel, music and her grandkids. She was a former member of St. Aloysius Choir.


She is survived by her husband, Carl, of Prairie du Sac; five children, Steve (Janet), Stuart, Tom, Tim and Suzanne (Dave Dobratz); three grandchildren, Tony, Lee and Cory; 2 brothers, Joe (Sue) and John (Bernita) Resch; 2 sisters, Mary Resch and Georgia (Andy) Blackwell; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tony, and a sister, Rosemarie.


A memorial service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City, at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2012, with Fr. John Blewett officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
