Obituary

Robert (Bob) L. Gade was called to his heavenly home on October 18, 2022.  Bob was born on June 11, 1941, in Reedsburg, WI to Martin and Adeline (Frommung) Gade. He attended grades 1-8 in a one-room country school near Reedsburg and was confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Reedsburg, WI. Bob graduated from Webb High in 1959.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps receiving the distinguished marksman medal and serving on an air crash and rescue crew.

On June 27, 1964, Bob was united in marriage to Sandra White at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo, WI.  The marriage was blessed with two children, Brenda and Todd, of whom he was very proud. He also adored his three grandchildren, Ian, Jordan, and Kinsey.  He attended UW Madison and MATC for tool and die making. Most of his career was at Ray-O-Vac in Madison, often traveling across the United States establishing manufacturing plants until the Madison location closed. He then worked at Clack Corporation in Windsor as manager of the machine shop until his retirement.

During their 58 years of marriage, he enjoyed traveling the U.S. on vacation with family. He especially enjoyed visiting the West, going back many times.  His love of golf got him into starting his own business, Birdies & Bogies, building and repairing golf clubs.  A big enjoyment was fishing and spending time at their cabin with family. Relaxing with a cup of coffee, you could find him watching westerns and sports or listening to country music. He always looked forward to going to country music concerts. His last few years he enjoyed going for car rides on many untraveled country roads with Sandy being his chauffeur; getting lost on these excursions was always a great adventure for him.  Bob was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac where he previously served on council and as a Lutheran Pioneer leader.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his children, Brenda (Paul) Hutter and Todd (Jill) Gade; grandchildren, Ian (Mary Kolell) Hutter, Jordan and Kinsey Gade;  sister and brother-in-law, Linda and James Slingland; sister and brother-in-law, RoDonna and Ernest DeKeyser; sister-in-law, Carol White, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Martin and Adeline Gade; sister Joyce Verthein and brother-in-law, Al;  sister, Joan Eulberg and brother-in-law, Jim; twin nieces, Lynn and Lora Eulberg; father and mother-in-law Irvin and LaVera White; and brother-in-law, Dennis White.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28, at 9:30 am at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City, WI. A Funeral Service with Military Honors accorded by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694 will follow at 11:00 am.  Interment will be held in the Oak Hill Cemetery, North Freedom.
