Robert J. Wenger, age 71, died on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg. He was born in Portage on June 14, 1936, the son of the late John and Frances (Schnieter) Wenger. He was united in marriage to Mary Anna Jennings on August 19, 1962. She preceded him in death on November 22, 2002. Bob retired in 2001 following twenty years in the U.S. Navyand twenty years with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. He is survived by 3 children, Stacy (Ranae) Wenger, Rodney (Traci) Wenger and Cynthia (Richard) Breunig; 11 grandchildren, Amber, Robert (Christina), Joshua, Tony, Lindsay, Megan, Michael, Bethany, Kaydee, Betsy and Jacob; 2 great grandchildren, Mykinsi and Devin; a brother, Donald (Helen) Wenger; a sister, Francis Beckerjack, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Marcella Schultz and Elizabeth Schultz. A funeral service will be held at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Merrimac, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 with Pastor Joel Bradtke officiating. Burial, with military rites conducted by Lachmund-Cramer V.F.W. Post 7694, will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Merrimac.
