Rodney "Bud" LaVerne Hutter, age 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. He was born on July 18, 1928 in Sauk City, the son of the late Art and Matilda (Peterson) Hutter. Bud graduated from Sauk City High School in 1946. Following high school he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating with degrees in Physical Education and Business. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and served 8 years. On October 21, 1950 he married Betty Maier at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City. Bud enjoyed sports, playing Home Talent baseball, coaching youth sports, and was an avid golfer with 9 aces and 3 club championships. He worked for 41 years as a Production Manager with Ohio Medical Group. Bud was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, serving as a past Grand Knight.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty; 6 children, Vicky (Greg) Maier of Sauk City, Lynn (Bob) Sauvan of Estes Park, CO, David Hutter of Merrimac, Dick (Margie) Hutter of Sauk City, Mike (Sandy) Hutter of Fort Collins, CO and Kathy (Dave) Straub of Sauk City; 9 grandchildren, Sabrina (Andy), Ashlyn (Steven), Deidra, Travis, Ryan, Alyse, Adam, Rodney and Russell; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Hutter; many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Courtney; a brother, Jim Hutter; and a special Aunt and Uncle, Casper "Cap" and Odelia Schlungbaum.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, where a Rosary Service will be held at 2:45 pm. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 am until 11:15 am on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
