Rolland James Unke, age 71, died January 17, 2017 at his residence. He was born on November 3, 1945, the son of the late Reuben and Anita (Attoe) Unke. He was united in marriage to Patricia Biesterfeld.

Rolland , his wife and children enjoyed farming the August Unke homestead, in West Point township, WI. They raised pigs,had dairy cows and crops. Rolland loved the Lord and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sauk City.

He enjoyed talking and visiting to anyone about their personal relationship with the Lord Jesus. Rolland came to know the Lord at age 19.

His aunt Edith Attoe introduced Rolland and Patricia, and also introduced them to Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Bill Richards. Rolland and Patti loved challenging the young people to give their hearts and lives to the Lord Jesus Christ.

He enjoyed singing in the choir and at the nursing home services, held by the church. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.


He is survived by his wife. Patricia; a son, Benjamin (Charity) Unke ; daughters, Joanna (Tim) Riley, Sarah (Jason) Canales, Lydia Unke, Ruth (Josh) Harder;
23 grandchildren, 2 sisters, Velma (Karl) Marquardt and Beverly Boos.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Philip, a sister, a brother in law and a nephew.


A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church Sauk City, WI with Pastor Dan Lindsey officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 12 noon until the time of the service.
