Roman E. Pagel, age 71, formerly of Denzer passed away at his home on Sunday, April 13, 2025.  He was born at the Reedsburg Hospital on April 16, 1953 to the late Harold and Laure (Werner) Pagel.  He grew up in the Honey Creek Township, attended the Tower Rock School and graduated from the Prairie du Sac High School.

Roman was united in marriage to Karen (Johnson) Markert on Dec. 14, 1979.  He and his girls, Tammy, Teri and Taunia joined their family with Karen's daughters, Sherri and Michelle.  Roman early on worked in construction for Lesters Inc., and later for several years for Tom Hellenbrand; he was especially proud of the Steeplechase Condominiums just out of Waunakee.  Roman went on to build log homes including his own home in Denzer, which he and Karen later sold and moved.  Later they returned to area, moving to their summer retreat near Necedah.  Roman and Karen enjoyed their weekends and were most happy when they could be surrounded by their kids and grandchildren at the "Pagel Resort".  Roman could be found on the front porch using his loud voice to get everyone's attention and enjoying the activity hour and game nights with the neighbors.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; his daughters, Teri (Archie) and Taunia (Dean); Karens daughters, Sherry (Larry) Thorlton, Michelle McNeil; 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Ron Pagel, Linda Boettcher, Patti (Daryl) Cox, Gloria (Dave) Ramsey, Lori (Mike) Warren; two wonderful friends, Lisa Bliss and Donna Pfaff; bonus son, Andy Greco; nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy; brother, Don Pagel; sister-in-law, Dolores Pagel and brother in-law, Harley Boettcher and his in-laws, Roy and Carolyn Johnson.

As per Roman's Wishes, a Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
