Roman Richard Slotty, age 78, passed away at his home in Denzer on Thursday, March 13, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born in Baraboo, February 23, 1936 to the late Paul and Laura (Wenzel) Slotty. He was united in marriage to Irma "Inky" Schoenfeld on May 25, 1957 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Leland. Roman worked with his parents on the family farm and later purchased his parents farm. He was proud to have served in the National Guard from 1953-1962, where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. Roman operated his own trucking company, hauling topsoil and gravel and doing excavating work for anyone that asked. He was a former school bus driver for the Sauk Prairie School District and former Honey Creek Town patrolman. Roman was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church Leland, where he was an active member and served on the church council for over 24 years as president, superintendent, and Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed his toy collection, flying his airplane, having a daily lunch at Culvers, and helping out whenever someone needed a hand.
He is survived by his wife Inky; 3 children, Jackie Boettcher (Randy Brockmann), Mike (Lisa) Slotty, Matt (Becky) Slotty; 4 granddaughters, Marrah, Kayla, Jenna and Emma; a sister, Ruth Evert; brother, Ralph (Helen) Slotty; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donald & Robert Slotty, and a brother in-law Harvey Evert.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Leland. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
