Obituary

Roman Robert Wachter, age 90, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Maplewood Nursing Home. He was born on June 19, 1920 in the township of Mazomanie, the son of the late George and Anna (Pulvermacher) Wachter. He and eight siblings all were born and raised in a log cabin which still stands at Black Hawk ridge on highway 78. Roman was a lifelong farmer. His father died when he was 16 and he and his brother, John ran the family farm. He enjoyed walking the fields, watching the crops grow, playing cards and travelling. One special trip was to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Roman was a member of St. Aloyius Catholic Church.



Survivors include his wife, Arletta (Garske); two sons, Terry of Sauk City and
Dale (friend Alice) of Roxbury; a grandson, Tyler; a sister, Cecelia Raleigh; two sisters-in-law, Delores Baier and Jean Baumgartner; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Marie, Ardella ("Helen"), Agnes and Pauline; and
three brothers, John, Peter and George.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 22 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Fr. Jared Hood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City.
