Ron Hoege, age 47, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the home of his in-laws. He was born in Prairie du Sac on September 2, 1963, the son of James and Jackie Hoege. Ron married Kathy O'Brien on September 18, 1992. He was employed at Don Miller Subaru for the past ten years. Ron will always be remembered for his love of subarus, his quick wit and zest for life, and his love for his rescued cats, Chantz, Smudge Hazy, Rascal Rogue and Alley Kat.


He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn (O'Brien); parents, James and Jackie (Schara) Hoege; brother, Randy (Sue) Hoege; grandmother, Arlene Schara; uncle, David (Jane) Schara; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Mary Ann O'Brien; four brothers-in-law, Michael (Vicki), Kevin, Tim and John (Linda) O'Brien; sister-in-law, Ann (Brian) McGill; two nephews, Taylor and Branden Hoege; three nieces, Jamie, Amy and Megan O'Brien; a great-niece, Haiden Ruch; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Stewart and Arlene Hoege and Iver Schara; a great-uncle, Mike Amacher; and his first rescued cat, Chantz.


A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2011. In lieu of flowers, it was Ron's wish that donations be made to the Big Cat Rescue in Rock Springs or your local animal shelter.


The family would like to thank Home Health United Hospice for all of their care and support and also Saint Vincent DePaul for their generosity, and a special thank you to William and Mary Ann O'Brien for opening their home to help care for Ron.
