Ronald "Ron" C. Goette, age 78, passed away in the comfort of his own home in Merrimac on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026.  Ron was born June 15, 1947 to the late Lowell and Dorothy (Decker) Goette.  He attended the one room school on Halweg Rd., Merrimac through 8th grade and graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1965.  In high school he enlisted in the Army Reserve unit in Baraboo; and served in Vietnam from 1968 until 1969.

Ron was united in marriage to Sue Rohr on Nov. 5, 1966 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Prairie du Sac; recently celebrating 59 years together.  Together they farmed and made their home on the Goette Family homestead as the 4th generation.  Along with farming Ron and Sue bought a campground in 1988-Merry Mac's Camp'n.  For the next 21 years they owned the campground, they worked alongside other family members, met and shared many stories and memories with the campers and the permanents and continued to work for many years for the next owners, by driving the tractor hay rides around the campground.  Along with the farming and campground, Ron and Sue also enjoyed Badger and Packer Football games or Ron could be found cheering on his team from his recliner.  They also enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, and riding in Ron's prized convertible.  What Ron liked more though was cruising the farm, the neighborhood and over to Charlies in his Kubota to visit with friends and neighbors.  When Ron wasn't cruising in the buggy, he was busy mowing multiple farm properties, hand painting all the buildings on the farms; whatever he did he managed to work up an appetite-or eating the samples while shopping at Costco with his grandson Jeff.  Ron was a member of the Lachmund Cramer VFW Post.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; his 3 children, Lisa (Thane) Newman, Lori Acker, and Kevin Goette; 8 grandchildren, Jeff (Lauren) Peetz and their children, Kennedi and Kori; Jake (Jessica) Peetz, Brynja Newman, Jessica Acker, Brooke (Eric Arm) Acker, Cassie Acker and her children, Korbin, Layla, and Oaklee, and Fisher and Dayton Goette.  Ron is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Ron's family would like to express their gratitude to Ron's medical care team and ICU nurses at the VA Hospital, and to Agrace and RN Connie for Ron's in home care.

A funeral service for Ron will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17th, 2026 at 12:00 noon at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City, WI 53583.  A celebration of Ron's life will follow at the Dorf Haus.  A visitation will be held starting at 10:00 am until the time of service.  Burial will be held in the Kingston Cemetery, Merrimac.
