Rose M. Johnson, age 85, of Denzer, passed away May 2, 2025, at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. Rose was born on July 7, 1939, the daughter of Paul and Esther (Goerks)Schara. She lived most of her life in Denzer. Rose worked for many years at Devils Head Lodge and Cedarberry Inn where she was known as the "Laundry Queen"
She could often be found sitting on her favorite stool at The Denzer Bar, enjoying the company of friends and family, or engaging in a game of Euchre. She also enjoyed playing dice and card games with her children and grandchildren
Rose is survived by sons, Terry (Jody) Thorlton, Larry (Sherry) Thorlton, Jim Johnson, daughters, Kristine Johnson, Pauline McCauley (Tom Austin), 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a special friend Karen Miller and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Esther, stepmother Ella (Johnson)Schara, husbands Delbert Thorlton and Roger Johnson, brothers Gordon, Lester, Iver, Merton, sisters, Joyce and Agnes, in-laws, other family members and friend.
A memorial service will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, WI at 11am on Saturday, May 10, 2025, with burial in the Sauk City Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Denzer Town Hall. A visitation will be held from 3pm until 6pm Friday, May 9, 2025, at the funeral home and also Saturday morning from 10am until the time of the service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie and Agrace Hospice for the wonderful care given to Rose.
