Roxanne Ellen Ruland

Roxanne E. Ruland age 75, of Mazomanie passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026. She was born in Dodgeville on Feb. 22, 1951 to the late Darvin and Anne (Hendrickson) Peterson. Roxanne graduated from Sauk Prairie High School, class of 1969. She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Ruland on Feb. 19, 1972 in Mazomanie. Roxanne was the inaugural Mazomanie Wild West Days Queen in 1969. After marrying William and starting a family, she had an in-home daycare for 25 years, taking care of dozens of local children during that timespan in Mazomanie. She and William enjoyed annual Las Vegas trips and long back road car rides on weekends in either their Nash Metropolitan or Edsel Pacer. She enjoyed regular bike rides and walks, along with word searches, and relaxing on her porch.

Roxanne is survived by her husband, William; sons, BJ (Leslie) Ruland and their children, William and Brock; Troy (Jody Berg) Ruland and their children Rhetta and Harker; and Daniel (Brianna) Ruland and their children, Eve and Josephine. She is survived by siblings, Marian Sopher and Linda Wiedenfeld; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Peterson; many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Judy Alt and Rodney Peterson; step father, Roman Reuter; her brother in laws, James Wiedenfeld, Vic Sopher, Jerry Alt, and Dave Lukens.

Roxanne’s family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to those who visited and called her regularly as she coped with health issues later in life. We are also deeply appreciative of the excellent, caring staff at St. Croix Hospice Care during her final weeks.

As per Roxanne’s family’s wishes a private burial in the Mazomanie Cemetery will be held.
