Obituary

Russell Kenneth Ott, age 73, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born on April, 4, 1934 in Troy Township to the late LaVerne and LaVesta (Patrick) Ott. Russ served in the United States Army in 1957. He married Beverly Wenzel August 26, 1959. Russ was a brick layer/mason for many years and worked for many companies including Goerks and Bender Masonry and Bricklayers Madison Local Union. He also operated his own cement finishing and mason business.

Russ also worked as a logger for Meisters of Sauk City and Gates Logging of Arena. In his most recent years, Russ delivered newspapers. Russ enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, playing cards, snowmobiling with his children and pulling them in the cutter. Russ and Bev organized and competed in several horseshoe tournaments. He was looking forward to soon becoming a great-grandfather, and especially enjoyed playing cribbage with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Prairie du Sac; children,Cindy (Larry) Schwartz of Prairie du Sac,Steve (Brenda) Ott of Sauk City, Randy Ott of Sauk City, Cheryl (Bill) Brice of DePere and Lynn Dederich of Sauk City; 9 grandchildren, Carrie and Mike Schwartz, Nicole and Hunter Kippley-Ott, Willy and Travis Brice, David Schrofer, Amanda and Dawn Dederich; a brother, Roger (Lorraine) Ott of Spring Green; a sister, Patsy Hering of Prairie du Sac; nieces, nephews and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Craig, his sisters Pricilla "Toddy" Loether and Esther Kaufman; an infant brother LaVerne Jr.,; two brothers-in-law, Earl Loether and Cliff Kaufman; and father in-law, Julius "Bud" Wenzel.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 11am at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Burial will follow at Sauk Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 5pm until 8pm and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
