Russell J. Zeman, age 86, died on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital. He was born in Prairie du Sac on September 21, 1923, the son of the late Charles and Emma (Benish) Zeman. He was united in marriage to Marie Hornung on May 29, 1948. He had been employed by Oscar Mayer for almost 40 years. Russell was an avid gardener, enjoyed custom slaughtering, fishing and hunting. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and St. Vincent DePaul Society.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of Sauk City; 8 children, Rick (Deb) Zeman of Prairie du Sac, Mary (Bill) Evert of Sauk City, Carolyn (Gary) Tavenner of Wauwatosa, Ron (Margo) Zeman of Sauk City, Ann (Frank) Kick of DeForest, Dan (Diane) Zeman of Prairie du Sac, Janet Wood of Prairie du Sac, Jane (Pat Krumenauer) Zeman of Sauk City; ten siblings, Arnold of Sauk City, Betty Johnson of Lodi, Violet (Wes) Attoe of Lodi, Vern (Debbie) of Phoenix, AZ, Ann Seeger of Tillamook, OR, Charles (Gloria) of Lodi, Bob (Lois) of Waunakee, John (Bonnie) of Poynette, Tom (Debbie) of Rio, and Jim (Yvonne) of Lodi; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Joe; and son-in-law, Mitch Wood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2009 with Fr. Alex Navarro officiating. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
