Obituary

Ruth Ann Larson, age 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, after a long and courageous battle with scleroderma.

Ruth Ann was born on February 6, 1952, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, to the late Russell and Ramona (Demby) Peterson. She graduated from River Valley High School in Spring Green in 1970.

On September 27, 1974, she was united in marriage to Stephan Larson at Christ Lutheran Church in Spring Green. The couple joyfully celebrated 50 years of marriage this past fall.

Ruth Ann dedicated nearly 40 years to her career at Springs Window Fashions before retiring.  Outside of work, she found joy in the simple things—spending time with her family and friends, cheering on her grandsons in their sports, and proudly supporting her son Nick's home talent baseball team from her lawn chair with the locals. A true Wisconsinite at heart, Ruth Ann was a passionate fan of the Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball, the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers, and local home talent baseball team.

And whenever there was a chance to play cards, Ruth Ann was in—she never turned down a good game, always enjoying the laughter, stories, and friendly competition that came with every hand.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Stephan; daughter, Tracy (Doug) Pape, and their sons, Parker and Landon; her son, Nick Larson; and her siblings, Mary Sawle, Joe (Toni) Peterson, Rosie Peterson, and Jeff (Lorri) Peterson. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Jim and Jerry Peterson; her sister-in-law, Darcey; her nephew, Sean Peterson; and a close family friend, Helen Knight.

The Larson family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the family and friends who supported Ruth Ann and Stephan throughout the years with kindness and care.

A Celebration of Ruth Ann's Life will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Brisbane Hall at Grandma Mary's Café, 175 Hwy 14, Arena.  A private burial will take place at Arena Cemetery at a later date.
