Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" Ann Meyer, passed away as a result of breast cancer on Sun. Oct. 4, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 6, 1935 while going up in the elevator at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo to the late Albert and Olga (Oyen) Ehret. Her childhood summers were spent swimming at the new outdoor pool and visits to Aunt Louise's farm in Janesville. She was a cheerleader and majorette at Prairie du Sac High where she met and cheered on her high school sweetheart Bill Meyer.

Bill and Sandra were united in marriage on March 13, 1954, and had four children. Sandra's support of Sauk Prairie Athletics continued by attending all of her children's sporting and school events and continued with her grandchildren, and then great grandchildren. She was an accomplished bowler and golfer, who had a unique style, scoring 2 hole-in-ones with a backswing that would make John Daley's look restricted.

Sandra loved to travel with friends and family. Memorable trips include Colorado, Las Vegas, Norway, Alaska, Ireland, Puerto Vallarta and hosting family where she wintered in Florida and Arizona. Sandra spent many hours playing her favorite card games; sheepshead, hand and foot, and bridge with family and friends; and found excitement at the casinos playing the slots. She was an indefatigable shopper, remarking, "so and so might be able to use this someday."

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially hosting holidays at her home. A favorite Christmas tradition was choosing the perfect ornament for each family member that matched their accomplishment of the past year. Sandra was a fantastic cook and prepared meals for all family events making sure her family had her recipes, but somehow they never quite tasted like hers.
Her passion for life was infectious, as she lead her loved ones on her many life adventures. She will be greatly missed.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Olga Ehret; her husband Bill; brother in-law, Donald Meyer; and sisters' in-law, Donna Meyer and Sharron Ehret.

She is survived by her children, Dawn (Sam) Grignano, Dan (Vicki), Tom (Sharon), and Steve (Patty); grandchildren, Charity (Mike) Leister, Lisa (fiancé Justin Wilson), Ryan (Jordan) Meyer, Cory (Erika) Meyer and Rachel Meyer; great grandchildren, Connor and Brooks Leister, Gracyn and Braun Meyer; a brother Al Ehret; brother and sister in-laws, John & Ardis Trueb, Duane & Donna Meyer, Robert Meyer and Donna Meyer.

A Celebration of Sandra's Life will be held at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015 at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City. A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until the time of service. Following the service, all are invited to join the family at the Dorf Haus.

Sandra's family would like to thank hospice and the nurses who lovingly cared for her.
