Sarah Mai Groth, age 47, of North Freedom passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025 at her home.  She was born May 4, 1978 in Madison and graduated from Baraboo High School in 1996.  She was the daughter of Sherry and Tom Kertzman.

Sarah was raised on her grandparent's farm where she became a nature lover and there wasn't an animal she didn't love especially her horses.  She excelled at 4H with all her animals, and won numerous trophies.  This dedication made it possible for her to attend the State 4H Horse Show in Milwaukee, where in 1997 Sarah was the Grand Champion Judge in the 17–18-year-old class.  Sarah so enjoyed growing up where she had all kinds of animals to play with from the littlest chick to all sizes of cattle and don't forget the horses especially the show horses; Almond Joy and Sure A Mark-aka "Duck".  She always had many pets throughout the years, the latest being Crawley, Rowenia, and Odin.

Sarah also loved deer gun hunting and bagged a nice 13 pt buck.  She enjoyed helping her cousins Little John and Alex doing all the crops on their grandparents' farm.  She would always try to get videos of them in the spring, summer, and fall bringing the crops in.  Sarah also was a diehard Green Bay Packers fans.  She loved to cook especially at the holidays and would use her grandmothers' recipes.  Sarah would always help anyone who needed it, she had such a wonderful heart.

Sarah had many friends and was loved by all, and will be missed by her mom and dad; Sherry and Tom Kertzman; her partner, Brandon Murphy and his children; Amber Murphy, Merecedes (Tyler), Jaida and granddaughter, Marianne; aunts, Elaine Groth, Nancy Groth, Gladys Groth; uncles, Johnny Groth; cousins, Alex and Ashley Clark, John Groth, Bridgette Groth, Jared Groth, Jim and Karen Kertzman, Kaylyn and Eric Joanis.  She is further by friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Mabel Groth.

A Celebration of Sarah's Life will be held in the Spring or Summer of 2026.
