Selma made her home in the North Freedom area for more than thirty-five years and enjoyed a retail experience at the Baraboo JCPenney store as well as experiencing a twenty year career in care giving at St. Mary's/St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. In addition, she cared for her aging parents. She was a talented piano player and that love of piano was passed on by the teaching of piano and organ lessons from her home. She was the pianist for the North Freedom United Methodist Church for many years. After a brief retirement from her hospital career, she moved back to her "roots" in the Sauk-Prairie area and enjoyed serving as a site manager for senior citizens through the Sauk County Commission of Aging for several years. She loved to learn, was an avid reader and enjoyed word search books.
A family memorial service will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home at a later date with interment at the Oak Hill Cemetery, North Freedom. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Freedom United Methodist Church.
