Shirley Brickl, 58, of Sauk City, WI passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a 16 year journey with cancer.

Shirley was born on May 8, 1953, in Reedsburg, WI, to Ed and Else Wittmann. She was united in marriage to Dean Brickl on June 2, 1973 in Plain, WI. Shirley and Dean made their home in Sauk City, WI and were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Kristen and Melissa.

Shirley worked for Springs Window Fashions in Middleton for 38 years as a Display Planner. She was an active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City. When Shirley was diagnosed with cancer in 1996 she became an activist for Bosom Buddies, breast cancer support group, Susan G. Komen and American Cancer's Relay for Life in the Sauk City area.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Dean, and two daughters, Kristen Lepoutre, (Laurent) of Boulder, CO, and Melissa of Kalispell, MT, and Missy's fiancé, Mitch Guenthner. Survivors also include two brothers, Gerry (Phyllis) Wittmann, Richard (Cheryl) Wittmann of Plain, six sisters, Mary (Jack) Schluter, Plain, Pam Schreiner, Sauk City, WI, Rita (Roger) Liegel, Aggie (Leland) Anliker, Carol (Greg) Meise, all of Plain, WI, and Anna (Dan) Meise of Sauk City, WI, and many other relatives and friends.



A mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 115 Madison Street, in Sauk City, WI on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. con-celebrated with Father Mike Resop, Father Jared Hood and Father Ray Dischler. Friends may call at the HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water Street in Sauk City, WI on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
