Shirley A. Bruckert, age 82, passed away at Maplewood Nursing Home on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 surrounded by her family.  She was born in LaCrosse on Apr. 2, 1940 to the late Earl and Betty (LaFleur) Taylor.  She grew up and attended school in LaCrosse.  Shirley was united in marriage to Robert E. Bruckert; he preceded her in death on September 3, 1989.  Early in their marriage she worked for Badger Ordinance Ammunition Works until staying home to raise their children.  After her children had grown and the loss of her husband Robert, Shirley returned to work.  She worked in house cleaning, cleaning businesses and retired from housekeeping at Maplewood Nursing Home.

Shirley was an excellent hostess. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family and looked forward to cooking and baking for her company.  Aside from enjoying her family, she liked fishing, birdwatching, and riding on her son's motorcycles.

She is survived by her 5 children; Jeff (Jill), Kevin (Leah), Lisa, Tim (Karen) and Sue (Gerard) Breunig; 7 grandchildren, Shane (Sara) Nelson-Bruckert, Brandon Bruckert-Denu, Joshua (Lauren Pagani) Bruckert, Stephanie (Ben Hudek) Bruckert, Kevin (Kendra) Breunig, Michael (Greta Koenig) Breunig, and Matthew Breunig; 8 great grandchildren; 5 siblings, Charlotte Denman, Gene Taylor, Kenneth (Penny) Taylor, Gary (Desi) Taylor, and Terry Taylor. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Shirley's family would like to thank the staff at Maplewood Nursing Home for their wonderful care.

A Funeral Service for Shirley will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac with Pastor Sally Williams officiating.    Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of service.  Interment will follow in the Prairie du Sac Cemetery.
