Obituary

Shirley A. (Duhr) Garfoot, age 79 passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in the Town of Buena Vista near Richland Center, WI on December 13, 1935 to Harold "Fender Bender" and Tacy Bell (Johnson) Duhr. She was united in marriage February 19, 1955 to Wayne L. Garfoot, who preceded her in death in December 2010.

She is survived by her four children, Lynne Grady, Sandi (Eric Mickelson) Garfoot, Jon Garfoot, and Suzi (Marc) Mickelson; her two beloved cats, Snickers and Oreo. She is further survived by 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, 3 step-grandchildren, 1 sister, Velma (Billy) Ketelboeter, 2 brothers, Earl (Dianne) Duhr, and Rudy (Glenda Sue) Duhr, step mother, Judy Duhr and two half-brothers, Mike (Michelle) and Ken Duhr; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Lorraine Theis, and son-in-law Jim Grady.

Shirley loved quilting, sewing, knitting and crocheting and was involved in the Linus Project crafting hand made blankets for critically ill children and made many quilts for her family. Shirley and Wayne spent many years on Lake Wisconsin with their family boating and water skiing and lived on the lake after their retirement. She enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively, including tours to four countries and a trip to Australia and New Zealand. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merrimac, WI.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 137 Main Street, Merrimac, WI at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 with Pastor Lil Belusa officiating. Friends may call at the Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Agrace HospiceCare or Immanuel Lutheran Church.

We would like to thank all family, friends and neighbors, with a special thanks to Aunt Velma for all of her love and support, Agrace HospiceCare, and her Immanuel Lutheran Church family who assisted with Mom's care over the past several months.

Mom, you will forever be in our hearts and we are at peace knowing you and Dad are together again. Fly free with the butterflies!
