Shirley Ann Hooverson, age 68, passed away on Dec. 3, 2016 at U.W. Hospital in Madison surrounded by her family. She was born in Portage on June 10, 1948 to the late Earl John and Mary Jo (Brocato) Dopp. She graduated from Portage High School; class of 1967 and later attended M.A.T.C. Shirley worked in the University Memorial Library for over 40 years; retiring in 2009. She was united in marriage to Arden David Hooverson at Our Lady Queen of Peace on Oct. 4, 1975. She enjoyed square dancing, jewelry, elephants, her doll collection, holidays with family and cheering on the Packers. Shirley looked forward to traveling and enjoyed frequent visits to Dollywood and Branson where she enjoyed country music and dancing.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years of marriage, Arden; brother, Dale Dopp of Milwaukee; sisters, Debbie (Randy) Vest of Portage and Donna (Randy) Dopp-Lange of Baraboo; a cousin, Peggy (Tom) Gustafson and their daughter, Angela Perry; niece Sonja Lange; Arden's siblings, Roger (Pat) Hooverson, Gary (Susie) Hooverson, Barb (Dick) Nagel, Bev (Jim) Zimmerman, Bonnie (Tim) Fagan, Anita Grote, Jimmy Hooverson, Judy (Mike Lackey) Hooverson, and Ron Hooverson; she is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Merlin William Dopp.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Fri. Dec. 9, 2016 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison with Fr. Michael Radowicz officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:15 am until the time of service. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Garden, 3054 County Rd. Bb, Madison.
