IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven "Steve"
C. Petersen
February 17, 1965 – August 16, 2024
Steven "Steve" Carl Petersen aged 59, passed away on August 16th, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. Steven was born on February 17th, 1965, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the youngest son of Carl & Vivian (Bush) Petersen. Steve grew up with his siblings in the small town of Sauk City, Wisconsin, attending Sauk Prairie schools as a child and graduating high school as a member of the Class of 1983. Steve possessed an outgoing and helpful personality, always willing to share his vast knowledge and experience in many areas. This aided Steve in establishing enduring life-long friendships with both classmates and coworkers throughout the years.
When it came time to pick a career, Steve followed in his father and older brother's footsteps and became an over-the-road semi-truck driver, independently owning & operating his own semi-truck for 13 years and then driving trucks for Skinner Transfer for an additional 16 years, wherein he received the safe driving award annually. Additionally, during his thirty-year professional driving career, Steve traveled all over the Midwest and East Coast, along the way becoming a highly requested driver due to his friendly and respectful personality and his ability to make fast friends with the people he met during his travels.
Steve was united in marriage to his wife Lisa (Wilson) in 1994, and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage together. Moreover, Steve took on the role of a caring and supportive father to his stepdaughters. And in the years to come, Steve also earned the title of proud Papa by welcoming the joyous addition of his grandchildren into the family.
In his younger years, Steve enjoyed riding motorcycles and taking his family out tubing on his boat, on which he also taught his daughters how to fish as well. Furthermore, Steven cherished Sunday family nights filled with pizza, movies, and laughter. And upon the purchase of their first home, Steve wasted no time in expanding his family by adopting the first of the many family dogs. His "Bumpus Hounds" as he affectionately called them, Steve loved cuddling, napping with, and spoiling his furry children. Moreover, Steve found peace and contentment in the simple act of sitting in his "little slice of heaven" backyard, watching his dogs Cloey & Ruby play while he drank coffee, smoked, and listened to his podcasts about history & true crime.
Steve possessed a life-long love of automobiles, attending car shows in his spare time and spending hours in his garage working on his hobby car with his oldest grandson. Moreover, Steve retained the uncanny ability to identify classic automobiles at a glance and could share extensive details about these vehicles with ease. Moreover, Steven was a diecast classic car model builder, a hobby he later passed on to his grandson Layne. Furthermore, Steve in his off time took pleasure in cooking for his family, trying new recipes, grilling, and hosting cookouts at his home for friends.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Vivian Petersen, brothers, Jeffrey & Roger and sisters, Sheila & Whisper.
Steven is survived by his wife, Lisa (Wilson) Petersen, his daughters, Amber Wilson and Miranda (Billy) Pickett and his grandchildren, Layne Steven Hall, Willy, Lucy, Leonard, and Harvey Pickett.
Steven is additionally survived by his sister, Linda Singsime, his sister-in-law, Lynn (Roger) Petersen, his nephews Ryan, Brent & Adam, and his niece Erin. Along with Steve's many sisters-in-law and brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews from his wife's family.
A Celebration of Life Gathering is being held in remembrance of Steven Carl Petersen on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at the Prairie Du Sac Fire Department.
