Steven K. Cutler, 68, of Sauk Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2015, due to complications from a heart attack. Born on May 21, 1947 in Frankfort, Indiana to Paul and Alice (Parrett) Cutler, he lived the majority of his life in Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
After his high school graduation he joined the Army were he served as a lieutenant in the Vietnam War. He then returned to Illinois where he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Gretchen (Laughnan) Cutler and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Forestry. He worked for many years with the National Farmers Organization and as a realtor.
Steve was an active member of his community where he served on the parish council at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, helped start the Sauk Prairie Community Thanksgiving Meal, and with his wife was very involved in National Marriage Encounter. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, Morel mushroom hunting, and rattlesnake hunting as well as taking daily walks, biking, and backpacking the Appalachian trail. From celebrating his Irish heritage, enjoying a good Scotch, or cheering on his Chicago Bears to playing cards with family and friends or hosting annual poker tournaments, Steve was passionate about living life to the fullest.
Steve's love for his family and friends was quietly expressed, but felt by all. He was especially proud of his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Cutler; his sons Mike (Carol) Cutler and Dan (Brian) Cutler; his daughter Tanya (Jeff) Hiser; grandchildren Katie, Riley, Hunter, Hayden, Kennedy, Emmaline, and Gretchen; his sister, Paulette Kay (Doug) Craig; his dog Maggie and many other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City, WI, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Lake Wisconsin Country Club.
