Steven J.Thimling, age 74, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on December 16,2025. He grew up learning the love of the outdoors & quest for knowledge in Holland Indiana. He graduated from Holland High School in 1969 & Purdue University in 1973. He worked for Dames & Moore before coming to Wisconsin in 1978 where he met his wife, Kathy Alt, & married in 1979. They had a son, Kyle, in 1982. Steve worked for the Gordon Flesch Company as a servicetechnician for 35 years before retiring in 2019.Steve had varied interests including orchids. He was a member of OrchidGrowers Guild for many years.

For 25 years he was the fur trader for the 4th grade Pioneer Days. Steve's main interest was Boy Scouts. He joined with our son about 35 years ago & never left. His love for camping, hiking & teaching the kids' survival training was what he was the proudest of. In 2014 Steve was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This led to our search or a happier life. We discovered our love for music. We met others who shared our interest & they became the best friends anyone could hope for.

Steve is survived by his wife Kathy Alt Thimling  & son Kyle M. Thimling. His sister Sharon Krampien, Normal Illinois & sister-in-law Mary Sylvia Thimling, Beaver Creek Illinois. He was preceeded in death by his parents Ambose & Ruby Thimling,Holland Indiana.  Brother Kenneth Thimling & infant brother Mark Thimling.

We would like to thank the Carbone Cancer Center for giving him extra years to enjoy life, and Gilda's Club for all their support.  Also St. Croix Hospice for your help in keeping him at home.
